Age-friendly communities and homes enhance personal independence by allowing residents to safely age-in-place, stay active, and live longer.

Programs

Building a Community of Legacy Together – Intergenerational Programming

Building a Community Legacy Together (BCLT) is an intergenerational program that involves youth interviewing elders for their general advice on living. This long-standing intergenerational model shares life lessons of the older adult to provide knowledge to the youth.

Creating Aging-Friendly Communities

This facilitation guide helps Extension professionals inform communities of age-friendly adaptations and assist them in self-assessing their age-friendliness.

Gray for a Day

This interactive simulation experience utilizes an empathic model to educate participants on the age-related sensory and functional challenges some older adults might face.

Reframing Aging Factsheets and Reflection Worksheets

Recognizing the unique role of Cooperative Extension, we used concepts and techniques learned during the Reframing Aging training by GSA and applied its core techniques to produce relevant factsheets that reflect both the work Cooperative Extension does and the diverse populations we support, as well as cover content not featured in the reframing aging training (e.g., facts on aging). . These factsheets will provide CE educators the information and tools they need to bring awareness to, and teach, about aging and ageism in their communities.
